What should you bring?

My number one question, "What do we need to bring to our newborn session?" I provide almost everything for the session, aside from formula or mommy's milk. I do also ask that you bring along a Paci if baby takes one. Other than that, everything is on me. Ive got all the swaddles, outfits, and props we need to create beautiful images of your baby. If you've seen it in my post there is a 90% chance that I've got it. If you have seen something you love in a previous image of mine, tell me! Then we can incorporate it into your session!

when to book?+planning the session

The best time to book is during your pregnancy, that way I can pencil your due date in and make sure to save some potential time slots just for you and your family.

If you have already had your baby, no worries! We can go ahead and book you, usually in the next two weeks. Anything before a month old is considered a "newborn session", but my preferred age for newborns is between 1-3 weeks of age, as those are usually the perfect sleepy babies!

When you decide that you'd like me to capture your newborn, (YAY) I'll get you an invoice over for the deposit to secure your slot with me.

Than the fun part, planning! I will ask 3 colors you'd like incorporated into your session and also any colors you don't like. Also if there is any special theme you'd like to go with during the session, now is the time to tell me so that I can plan accordingly. (i.e IVF baby with needles, rainbow baby, angel twin) Remember this is your baby and these are your photos, let me know if there is something you'd love included! I will set the studio up for your session with all your preferences in mind!

What to expect the day of your newborn photo session

The day of your photo session I do ask that you TRY to keep baby awake for about two hours prior to the session. A great way to do that is giving baby a bath. If baby does happen to fall asleep it is perfectly okay. Don't stress! Awake or asleep, we will get great images of your little one! Once you arrive to the studio, I'll have you take babies outfit off and wrap him/her in a blanket. Then we get baby fed. Doing it this prevents us from getting baby fed and happy then undressing them and making them angry right away. Once baby is happy and fed we go ahead and get the session started. If we have siblings we start by wrapping baby up and getting sibling photos + family photos. That way sibling is finished early on and a family member is welcome to take sibling out. Then we move on to baby only.

The session is 100% baby led. If baby doesn't like a pose, we don't do it or we move on and come back. If baby is upset, we pause to figure out why baby is upset. Usually it's a diaper change or they want to feed again. Babies sometimes cluster feed during sessions, it's totally normal.
